Free Tools / Title & Description Generator
Get a matching pin title and description in the shape Pinterest actually rewards: a title that promises something, then a description with the specifics and one call to action.
Add a keyword and at least one specific.
A pin title has 100 characters, but 40 to 80 is the range worth aiming for. The job of a title is to make a promise, not to label the photo. "Gallery wall with no drilling" describes a picture and nobody searches for it. "No-Drill Gallery Wall Ideas Your Landlord Will Never Notice" tells the reader what they gain. Avoid numbers unless the number is genuinely true of your pin, because "7 Ways" on a pin showing one thing is a promise the reader disproves in a single tap.
A pin description can run to 500 characters, but only the first line or two is visible in the feed before Pinterest truncates it. That means the opening sentence has two jobs at once: carry the phrase people search for, and give someone a reason to tap. Everything after it is written for the reader who already did.
The descriptions that work have the same three parts. First, one sentence that expands the promise in your title and contains your keyword. Second, two to four concrete specifics — materials, steps, sizes, ingredients, costs. This is the part almost everyone skips, and it is the part that separates a description worth saving from a restatement of the title. Third, a single call to action phrased as something the reader does right now.
Use two to five hashtags, lowercase and with no spaces inside a tag, mixing one broad tag with one specific to your topic. Twenty tags do not help. Neither does repeating a keyword in variations, which is the single most common mistake on pins that rank for nothing: black black aesthetic blacks blacker is a real pin title, and it ranks for none of those words.
One rule worth holding to: every specific must be true of the image on the pin. An invented measurement or a step that is not in the picture costs more trust than a keyword gains, and Pinterest measures how fast people come back. When you have a draft, run it through the character counter to check it against every Pinterest limit at once.
